  1. It doesn't need to be crazily related to what I actually sell or the problem that I need to solve. Instead, the entire goal of the subject line is to show them that you know them. And the way that you can test if you've done this right is if the subject line wouldn't make sense to anyone else who would get it. You're also putting your company name. In this scenario, you say, Dave Phillips, LinkedIn, and Sam Sales. Dave Phillips is the brother, LinkedIn is, I think you're talking to them about helping them with LinkedIn, and then you've got the company name. That I guess brings me now to the next piece of a great cold email, which is I now have to say something.
